Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is of utmost importance to ensure that your parking lot is accessible to all members of the community. We understand the significance of providing adequate facilities for disabled patrons and will work with you to incorporate the appropriate number of disabled parking spaces with correct dimensions into the parking layout. General ADA Requirements:

Width & Accessibility

  • Minimum clear width36 inches for a walkway (ramps may require more).
  • Maximum slope: 1:20 (5%) for level walking surfaces.
  • Cross slope: Maximum 1:48 (≈2%) to ensure wheelchair accessibility.

Surface Requirements

  • Smooth, firm, and slip-resistant.
  • Free of abrupt changes in level greater than ½ inch.
  • Adequate drainage to prevent pooling water.

Ramps & Sloped Walkways

  • Maximum slope: 1:12 (≈8.33%) for ramps.
  • Landings: At least 60 inches long at the top and bottom.
  • Handrails required if rise exceeds 6 inches.
